The main focus of the course are the standard British pronunciation and accents but students will also be exposed to a range of international English accents. Students will work on error identification, analysis and correction in speech and will use the phonetic table for guidance in accurate and clear pronunciation. During class group discussions and pairs work you will discuss a range of topics focusing on accent and clarity. Our experienced native speaking tutors will correct you, focusing on specific pronunciation and intonation issues. Using a variety of simulated social and work situations, you will be encouraged to talk and join in with fun speaking exercises and role play.
This course is run in the evenings so is suitable for anyone who lives and works in London already as well as visiting students from overseas. It also fits in well with any of our daytime English courses such as IELTS and CAE.

Why Work on My English Pronunciation?
Working on pronunciation is a crucial aspect of learning a foreign language for several compelling reasons. Firstly, clear and accurate pronunciation enhances effective communication. When your pronunciation is precise, you can convey your ideas, thoughts, and emotions more easily, reducing the chances of misunderstandings. This is particularly important in real-life situations where the primary goal is effective interaction, such as travel, business negotiations, or making friends in a foreign country.
Secondly, proper pronunciation fosters cultural sensitivity and respect. When you pronounce words and phrases correctly, you demonstrate a genuine interest in the language and culture you are learning. This fosters goodwill and respect from native speakers, as it shows you are making an effort to engage with their language on their terms.
Thirdly, good pronunciation improves listening skills. When you work on your pronunciation, you become more attuned to the nuances of the language, including the rhythm, intonation, and stress patterns. This heightened awareness makes it easier to understand native speakers and adapt to various accents and dialects.
Lastly, it boosts self-confidence. Clear pronunciation leads to successful communication, and this success can be a powerful motivator in your language-learning journey. As you see improvement in your pronunciation, you'll gain confidence in your abilities, making you more willing to engage in conversations and take on new language challenges.
In summary, focusing on pronunciation in foreign language learning is vital for effective communication, cultural appreciation, listening skills, and personal confidence, all of which contribute to a more rewarding language-learning experience.
