Present perfect simple and continuous

Feb 28, 2012

Hi everyone.

So today we're going to talk about the other 2 present tense forms.

3. Present perfect simple
You put have/has with the past participle. This is very easy if you learn your irregular verbs.

For regular verbs, the past participle is the verb+ -ed:
I have walked
you have walked
he/she/it has walked
we have walked
they have walked

For irregular verbs, you need to learn the participles:
I have ridden
You have ridden
he/she/it has ridden
we have ridden
they have ridden

4. Present perfect continuous
We use have/has + been + present participle:
I have been reading
you have been reading
he/she/it has been reading
we have been reading
they have been reading

Remember, the form is easier than the use. The use can take years to learn really well, but you can learn all the forms of basic English verbs in a few weeks.

Good luck with your English!
