Temperature idioms

Aug 19, 2014

Where has the summer gone? It seems like London weather is back to its normal cold self these days, which is a real shame! Here are some that use temperature idioms for you, can you work out the meaning from the sentences?

I started a new business with my friend, we worked hard but soon we got into hot water. People don’t want to buy plastic rain coats and umbrellas in this beautiful London summer! My friend and I were worried and we had a heated discussion about what to do. He lost his cool and started shouting at me, we had a very big argument, it was so bad we had to close our shop!

Which one means; an argument? Get into trouble? Get angry?

I wonder why the meaning of temperature idioms is related to emotions, what do you think?
